Back to Sydney

So much has happened since my last update with Jackson blossoming into a beautiful little boy - there is no way he can be thought of as a baby any longer......(sob!). In January, Brent, Jackson and I headed back to NSW for another visit with the Sydney Hansens. Jackson was inconsolable upon our return after having three other kids to play with for so long! Jackson absolutely adored Emilia and I would love to say that the feeling was mutual but she played a little hard to get with him (you go girl!) and only warmed up to having him around and having to share her toys on the morning we went home! She did however, latch onto Brent and he loved giving her cuddles. The adults also had lots of fun involving counting down the hours till kids bedtime when we would have a few drinks and play some poker and UNO out on their deck. I would like to tell you that I maintained my 'Champion of the World' status at UNO, but that would be a dirty lie. Watch out for Trisha though..... that nice and innocent persona she maintains gets left at the door during poker - I think she may have actually won the most games! We also had the pleasure of being there for Ethan's first day at school and it was lovely to see how excited he was and how grown up he looked in his school gear. Once again, we cant wait till next we meet again.... we always have so much fun together and we just love being able to see the kids play! Thanks to Scott, Trisha, Ethan, Jacob and Millie for another wonderful trip!

Christmas!!

Oh my goodness what a day!! We woke little Jack-Jack up at 5.30am to open some presents and at about 7am Carmen, Nathan, Lachie, Sara, Grandma and Grandad and Nana and Grandpa all arrived for breakfast. The two boys had a ball playing with the presents and poor Jackson didnt know which toy to go for! The little car from Scott and Trisha and the kids was a hit with Lachie pushing Jackson along on it. Jack was exhausted after all the excitment and went straight back to bed at 8.30. After everyone left and Jackson woke up we headed to Mum and Dads for the rest of the day. We had a great lunch (our first cold one ever!) and heaps of fun opening more presents and playing with Jacksons toys all day.
In the evening we all sat around chatting and Jackson was able to appreciate Granpas handy work with the Christmas lights. He insists on calling Jack 'Boof' and only becomes more persistent the more I object!
We are most upset that all the craziness is over for another year but we have a jam-packed schedule in 2007 to keep us all occupied starting with Brodie and Nicoles wedding in Feb......hooray!!

Brent and I recently had a christmas party at our place and we had so much fun that we are thinking of making it an annual event! All the family within reach were there as well as some of our marvellous friends. Thanks to all that came - we had a fantastic night and hope you did to! The last ones standing (of course!) were Brent, Daniel, Prue, Glen and Bruce who embarked upon a poker game at 2.30 when I was calling it quits. Lo and behold, when I woke up with Jackson at 6.30am, Brent and Uncle Dan were both still at it! They both were very quick to tell me that they were definitely not still drunk (slurring a little with beers in hands) so needless to say the next day was a bit of a write off for some...... A special thanks to Brodie, Nicole and Aidan who really got in the spirit and dressed up - it made the night extra special. An honorable mention must also be made for Aidan who was such a pleasure all night even though by then there were no kids left to play with. He didnt even need the chocolate bribes I kept offering him to be content! Jackson had a great time being passed around and stayed up well past bed time lapping up the attention. Brode and Nicole had even bought him a christmas outfit which was adorable and as for Brent - after much persuasion our compromise for him getting in the spirit was tying some tinsel around his akubra! Thanks also to Kim, Kate, Jazzie and Jake who came early so that the kids could play together - Jackson loved it! And last but not least, the unofficial extra member of the Jones clan - Rebecca - helped me (more like I helped her!) with all the food which was fantastic and also took on many an hour of Jackson cuddling! Thanks to all for making the night a success!

It is ridiculous that I feel this way but Jack is growing up way too fast for me!! The past few weeks have been amazing and we have all had so much fun just enjoying being with each other but Jackson seems to be in a real hurry to grow up (sob!). He has sprouted two teeth (thank god there was a reason behind the moods he was having!) which he proudly bites me with quite often, he is pretty much crawling now so I am having to run around and baby proof the house, he can clap his hands and he said his first word - Mama! Within two weeks of learning how to say that he started to say Dada which is now his absolute favourite word. He also says blah blah a lot which Brent tells me is a result of him having to listen to me all day long. He has also said 'typewriter' and 'marmalade' unintentionally but Brent proudly tells this to all of his friends none-the-less.
My Aunty Lynda and my Grandparents (Thomas) were all up in Brisbane lately which was lovely. It was nice that they got to see him again before he gets too grown up. Jackson loves all the attention and there certainly wasnt a shortage of that!
The hands in the photo belong to Jackson and his Great Grandad Thomas who got along famously.

Family Gathering

The next week after ariving home from our holiday, all of the Hansen clan met down at Coolangatta to celebrate Carmen's thirthieth and to get all the kids together at once. It was awesome to have all the kids there and they all had a ball! Trisha threw an early Birthday party for Lachie and Millie (who were both close to turning one) and Jack-Jack (turning six months!) which was hilarious! Jack tried his first musk stick (not impressed!) and his first bit of mud cake - mmmmmm..... Jackson was a bit hard to live with when it was all finally over as my company just couldnt compare to having the cousins around!

Our first family holiday!!!

I have been very slack with the blog lately but I will try and bring it up to date. Brent surprised me a while back by getting him and I tickets to go and see The Foo Fighters Acoustic at the Opera House!! Brents brother Scott and sister-in-law Trisha and their beautiful kids live in Sydney and we had been meaning to go and see them for some time so 'twas doubly exciting!! And so the three of us embarked on our very first holiday together......Seeing as this is really Jacks blog I wont rave about the fantastic night that Brent and I had (much as I would like to) at the concert but the rest of the time was brilliant as well. We got to meet the amazing Emilia and spend lots of time with the whole brood. Jackson loved being with the kids (as did we!) and had an absolute ball. Thanks for having us Scott and Trisha...... hopefully it wont be too long until we are at your doorstep again!

Jackson has done a lot of growing up since I last made an entry! Everyone who has seen him has said that he has quickly changed from a baby into a little boy. He can roll over from front to back and back to front although only in one direction!! He has had his first bikkie and rusk and he is refining his tantrum throwing techniques. He has what we call 'angry arms' which involves throwing them out and shaking them whilst squealing at me to give him back that apple core/magazine/mobile phone/remote control. He is currently sitting beside me blowing rasberries non-stop which is his 'noise of the week' - a lot better than some of the other ones I can tell you - the only down side being the amount of slobber that gets everywhere!
